Through Eagle’s Eyes: Seeing with Compassion
Kermit once said, “It’s not easy being green.”
And Eagle’s message reminds us — it’s not always easy being human either.
When Eagle came, she invited me to climb onto her back. Together we soared into the sky, rising high above the earth. Below us stretched mountains, forests, and rivers — all pulsing with balance and beauty. From that height, everything felt peaceful and connected.
Then Eagle turned toward a city.
From our vantage point, we flew across thousands of tiny houses packed close together — streets weaving between them like threads in a vast tapestry of human life. Eagle showed me how, beneath the surface, every home is its own little universe — filled with laughter, fears, dreams, and quiet heartache. Each one is a world unto itself, often hidden from view.
And Eagle said softly,
“Every human heart beats within its own world. You see only glimpses of each other’s lives, and sometimes you forget that everyone is living a story as real and complex as your own.”
That truth struck me deeply.
How easily we become absorbed in our own world, forgetting that everyone else is living within theirs — each shaped by joys, sorrows, and unseen struggles. Most of the time, people’s behaviour toward us has very little to do with us. They’re responding through the lens of their own experiences and emotions, just as we are through ours. When we remember this, compassion naturally arises. We stop taking things so personally and begin to meet life with greater understanding and peace.
From her high vantage point, Eagle sees all these little worlds — the laughter, the pain, the courage, and the confusion — and holds them in the same vast sky. From that view, no one is separate. Every home, every life, is a shining part of the great web of existence.
“Rise,” Eagle said, “but do not look down in judgment.
Look down with love.
Let compassion be your vision, and you will help the world to heal.”
Eagle calls us to step back, breathe, and see with the eyes of the heart — to rise just high enough to regain perspective, yet stay grounded enough to live with gentleness. When we do, we remember what truly matters: kindness, understanding, and connection.
Simple Practices from Eagle
Pause before reacting. When someone frustrates or disappoints you, take a slow breath. Remind yourself that you don’t know what they’re carrying.
Look with soft eyes. As you walk or drive, notice the homes around you. Imagine each one as a little universe of hopes and challenges. Send a silent blessing of peace to those inside.
Bring awareness to your encounters. Throughout the day, notice how you respond to others. When tension arises, imagine Eagle’s view above the city — spacious, calm, and compassionate — and let that perspective soften your heart.
Return to perspective. Step outside, look at the sky, and feel yourself both grounded and spacious — part of something vast, held in the same great sky Eagle flies through.
